Hi guys, I'm over in Detroit (Auburn Hills area) for 4 days in a month's time and wondering where the must visit photography spots are to visit whilst I'm over - especially at night as I'll be working during the day - your thoughts would be much appreciated :o) xx

@sparkle juliettte , I went there in May 2009 on business, I think you will be surprised how quite it is out of 'office hours'....we went to down town Detroit on the middle saturday of the trip ...saturday morning the city was empty .....and i mean empty...nobody there....the border police came and checked me out for taking photos in the main square (Detroit borders Canada) and gave me and my colleague a warning for not carrying our passports.

The waterfront is quite interesting by the General Motors Renaissance Center, but it's so big it's really hard to photograph.

Driving along Michigan Avenue back to Dearborn (where we were staying) was pretty interesting but we did not stop for a photo shoot.

I was slightly disappointed with my photo opportunities, but I'm sure you will do a great job of your photos there :)

Have a great trip !

not from Detroit, but from Windsor which is right across the river! There are some amazing building in Detroit to photograph but not the safest areas. certainly don't go by yourself! there is always Greek Town too.

Eastern Market on a Saturday
Elmwood Cemetary
Graffit project on Grand River and Rosa Parks
Midtown...Institute of Arts, College for Creative Studies, Main Library,
The Riverwalk from Hart Plaza to the new Miliken State Park
Dequindre Cut
Corktown (victorian houses and the abandoned railroad station and the imagination station)
Heidelberg Project

Just a few of the places I can think of.
The city has changed alot in two years and you will no longer find the downtown empty on Saturday. It might be quiet but there are folks on bikes everywhere and more and ore people moving downtown.
