Lightning, water crowns, bug macros, the perfect sports shot...most of us have one particular subject that we'd *love* to perfect. One capture that we'd like to look at and, basking in complete satisfaction, think, 'That's it. I've done it.'
After 22 years of shutterbugging I'm still striving for a worthwhile lightning shot. One day...one day.
Have you guys got a particular shot that you'd like to ace?
I love all the answers so far. I am an absolute beginner. I would love to manage one great picture of an old tree. I keep taking pictures and they all look ordinary. But one day soon...
Not necessarily a shot, but my holy grail would be being a photographer at the Olympics... don't care what sport (though I'd kill for gymnastics), just want to it experience photographing there.
I look at the "Holy Grail" not as a particular shot, but as having attained the knowledge, the preparedness, and the sight to not miss or mess up a once in a lifetime opportunity.
With that said, I guess I always wanted a picture of me riding a scooter with an overgrown cat sitting behind me, but I think I nailed that one yesterday.
Portraits, portraits, portraits. Also I'd love if Jim fixed it for me to be a fashion photographer for the day with some great pros to show me the ropes, that would be cool
Wow great topic. Where do I start gosh I guess for me it is everything as my photos never turn out the way my mind sees it when the photo is take although most can be fixed with some processing to get close to what I think it should look like then there are others that I can’t do nothing with to make them better. So I guess my "Holy Grail" is not even a shot really its letting go of trying to take that perfect shot and just going with my heart and letting the rest fall into place.
Macro, I want a shot of a flower or bug, so close and so clear you can see every hair or feel you can smell it, and when you see it you say WOW, just like i have said about so many photographers shots on this site.
i'd like to shoot Scarlett Johansson,Lady Gaga,Audrey Hepburn(if alive) and all the super models: Kate Moss,Adriana Lima,Naomi Campbell,Christy Turlington,etc.. Bradley Cooper and Tom Studrridge---haha-- i just took Ambien-please wake me up !!:)
I want to go back to Thailand and Singapore and shoot it like I should have the first time. I was so worried about schedules and holding people up that I missed shot after shot. Additionally, I really found my "voice" within this last couple of years. I want to go back and experience it again with new eyes and patient companions.
I am a beginner and I learn as I go. But I am with Bernadette. Ultra Macro with amazing detail of a flower or bug. I love getting lost in the tiny details!
Right now I want to borrow a little rowboat so I can drift silently in the water and take pictures of the same subjects, but from closer up. I don't want to invest in a bigger/better camera for various reasons, but I really want to get close enough to the pelicans and cormorants on the pilings. That being said, I just want there to always be one picture that says Ah Ha! Nailed it!
hrmm... i guess a brilliant action shot would be amazing.
great discussion topic, Kez!
Then Jupiter. Then Saturn. Then the Sun. And eclipses. And gas clouds and nebulae... A decent lottery win would help!
