Camera settings

Wouldn't it be great if we posted our pictures with camera settings and lens used?

Most show with the exif link on each photo, unless that information has been changed or the photograph has been really altered in PhotoShop or something similar, you will see this information.

I post the equipment I use with all my photos. A lot of it is for me personally, so I can look back and see what I used.

If you do "save photo as" in Photoshop, it'll preserve EXIF. "Save for web" will strip the info.

I usually post my lighting info, but the EXIF data already identifies the camera settings.

@hmgphotos In CS5 at least, in Save for Web there is a dropdown for metadata. If you select All it will preserve the EXIF data.

I just rely on the exif...then I get upset when I can't read it because people upload without it...NTW...I'm getting enough info anyway...

I check the exif data but if there is something bugging me, then I just ask... no one has not answered so far. We seem to be a pretty friendly sharing lot here!

and not everyone uses a DSLR, so lens info can be confusing for some photo-taking-gadgets out there!

The exif data is useful, but it would be nice to have extra info on the lens used (in the case of DSLRs anyway). The exif data will tell you that the focal length was, for example, 50 mm. But was the lens an "original" (nikon/canon/etc.) or third party (tamron/sigma/etc.)? Was that 50 mm on a zoom lens or was it a prime lens? Is that 50 mm on a full-frame or cropped-frame sensor? (well, ok, the camera model is generally indicated, which would give the answer to the sensor question...)

At any rate, as @bobfoto said, people are generally more than happy to answer any questions you have about their kit/settings/etc. if you ask.
