I totally forgot to share this with you lot, sorry.
Hasselblad have released free (yes, really) software that works in a similar manner to Lightroom. In fact, they actually teamed up with some Adobe designers and developers to create it. It is incredibly easy to use, and does pretty much everything Lightroom does. I quite like it, and if I didn't already have my Lightroom workflow sorted I'd likely use it permanently.
Works on both Mac and PC - verified (but with limitations).
NOTE: My apologies for forgetting these details. You will need a raw converter such as the free Adobe download, the software that came with your camera, or one of many others, to do an initial conversion to DNG (if you use Mac) or TIF (if you use PC). It has been a couple of months since I used this software, so someone else may need to confirm this for me (I haven't reinstalled it since having my computer repaired). I had to do this when I had an early release of Lightroom 2, because it couldn't read the Canon 5D Mark II raw files, so the extra step has never been an issue for me.
That looks great, thanks for letting us know. I got the free trial of lightroom recently with a view to buying it if I liked it, but I might not have to if this is any good!
Cool! Another in a growing collection of image manipulating applications, now to find the time to learn how to efficiently use them all. Off to YouTube.
@andifree@mortisa@wormentude@mbcarver@dmortega@robv@jdonnelly@eyebrows@smevvy@autumnseden@lelo@eyebrows@lilbudhha My apologies for leaving out some important details regarding raw files - when I was using this software, I was using it on 'blad raw files. You will need a raw converter (there are free ones available) to convert your raw into a suitable generic raw such as DNG or TIF - see added notes on main post - if using anything that isn't a Hasselblad. Personally I use DNG files for everything anyway, as they are easier to manage than proprietry raw files and their sidecar EXIF data.
@jinximages Thanks so much! I am going to give it a try. @wormentude - if you really want Lightroom...you could qualify for the student version. It is the same as the main version just 80% cheaper.
