Uploading Loses Description and Tags

October 16th, 2011
Hi Folks,

I wondered if anyone could help me understand this problem. I generally go to great pains to tag my photos and add appropriate titles and descriptions. When I upload to 365project.org, the Description and Tags fields are always empty.

I shoot raw, edit in either Lightroom or Photoshop (CS5), then export as jpg (not Save for Web...) and then upload the image to 365project. When the images arrive here, the Title and general EXIF data is fine, but I have to reenter the Description and Tags.

Does this only happen to me? Is there a workaround?

Thanks,
Damian.

What browser are you using for your uploads? I'm using Firefox, and I've never run into the same issue you're experiencing. Maybe try uploading the photo and not entering any info, save the image and once it's posted, edit the info? Not ideal, but it might save you some otherwise wasted time.

I didn't even think about uploading the descriptions and tags. I always enter them directly onto 365 when I upload the photos.

@melissapike @swilde Thanks for your responses. Entering the information manually for 365 is not ideal because I upload my photos to both Flickr and 365project and I don't want to enter the information twice, if it can be avoided.

Flickr picks up the information just fine so I think that either 365project just simply doesn't read it, or else I'm doing something else to my EXIF data that 365 doesn't like which causes it to ignore the rest of the informaiton. It seems odd that 365 will pick up date, exposure and title information, but ignore description and tags.

Has *anybody* ever managed to get 365 to read their description and tags from the uploaded image?

hi, we dont pick up on custom exif fields from lightroom. They are non-standard. If you can send me an example photo with the info i can take a look at adding it.

@Scrivna Cheers, Ross. I've sent you an email with an image and some details. Thanks for offering to take a look; I really appreciate it.

@Scrivna Hi, Ross. Any joy with this? If you don't have time to look, how about you let me clone your repository and I'll implement it myself?
