How are my fellow NJ and northeasterners surviving the October snow storm? We got around 6 inches which did terrible things to the trees that haven't lost their leaves. Huge trees have knocked out power lines so I haven't had power in 30 hours and counting - not good with temperatures dropping to 25 degrees tonight. Anyone with interesting photos from the storm? I won't be able to post anything until the power comes back. Hope everyone is safe and sound.
down here in NoVA (right outside of DC) we had snow all day yesterday but the ground wasn't nearly cold enough for it to stick, thankfully. didn't think to bring my camera out (stupid) and regretted it something fierce. look forward to seeing your pics once your power is back... which hopefully will be much sooner than later.
Oh the silly east coast, it's been snowing weeks here out west! Glad ya'll are "enjoying" the storm we sent your way :) Got 10" earlier this week here in southeastern Wyoming from the same storm. Like you, we had problems with the trees due to still having leaves as well. Then it was 0 degrees out... but we're a bit more hardy (I lived in New Jersey for 3 years, I'm allowed to pick on the state!).
Upstate NY here, we got hyped up for it big time and then it turned out to be very little (although my work lost power until late morning today! YES!) but no real pics from it :( sorry! I can't believe you got 6in!!
This was my yard at 9:30 this morning: Earlier in the day, there was a lot more snow on the trees, but the sky was still white and the lighting sucked, so I'm happy that I waited for this shot. :-)
And this was our cars at nearly midnight last night:
We had about 3 inches by very early AM, so we weren't hit very hard, and thankfully we didn't lose power...after 5.5 days w/o it from Irene, I think I would've cracked up--too soon!
we got about 19" (west milford nj, northeast nj)
and we have been without power since about 3pm on saturday....they're saying it probably won't be back until wednesday.....
so now i finally have access to real internet (not my phone) because i'm at work :(
i have a crapload of pictures that i took, that i need to upload....
we have so many downed trees by us.....
the snow was crazy, and it's crazy that it came so early in the fall, but, man, that white snow up against the fall colored leaves was so pretty!
Lost power on Saturday night here in Worcester Ma, and got it back early this morning. Got 12 inches of heavy, wet snow. Haven't seen this much damage to trees since the ice storm a few years ago. The trees didn't fare well with so many leaves on them. Many trees took down lines and made roads impassable.

Needless to say, I hope everyone is staying warm.
