Comfort Zone

November 7th, 2011
What photo have you taken that is unique for you or put you out of your comfort zone? I normally take landscape or nature photos, so this one was really unusual for me. I think I like stretching myself just a little.

That is so funny you brought this up. I was just talking about this today as my comfort zone is macros. My last non-comfort zone photo was taken Nov 5, I just cannot take scenic photos or landscapes etc, no animals either and I wish I could I love looking at those photos! I just do not like mine at all. Here is my last scenic photo:

@dejongdd That is a beautiful photo!!! I love it!

@dejongdd @scooter You both have some pretty good photos there.

Erm...comfort zone, eh? Well, I've shot just about every type of photography in the last three years and I was comfortable with all of it.

The one area I've never been comfortable: self-portraits. Bare. Emotional. Never could think of what to do or how to shoot it or anything. Yet...well...there it is.

@jasonbarnette You've been doing some pretty amazing self-portraits lately.

This was the most complex processing I've ever done; I almost stopped a couple of times because it took me a long time and wasn't going well at certain points, so I'm proud of it:

Street photography is definitely out of my element.

I took this one back in February.

@webfoot Ah! STREET PHOTOGRAPHY! Yeah, that's a hard one for a lot of people. Fortunately, I'm just abrasive enough to shoot a photo of anyone anywhere that is legal and not let it bother me. That's a good photo, btw.

@dejongdd Thanks. I literally put my heart into those. And for better or worse...there are more on the way. I've actually got another three planned that I'll probably do this week believe it or not.

Yeah mine would definitely be street photography mainly for the negative vibes people give you. There have been many photos that i have taken, where the subject you are taking a photo notices you taking a photo of them and then stares right down the barrel of the lens. But here is a shot that i took a while back!

@leebo81 I think that is a great shot! Something I would love to capture but cannot or never around the opportunity. Great job.

Definitely self portraits. Luckily none of them have been good, so I haven't had to worry about a lot of people looking at me. lol.

It's not so much the photo that was out of my comfort zone, but where/why I took it!

This was actually one of several photographs I took for a play - I was their promo photographer. :) I'd never done anything like it before! It was fun. :)

For sure street people and selfies

Mine's defintiely street photography. Now that I'm on my 2nd year, I would really like to go beyond my comfort zone and at least try it. I'm practicing little by little and am enjoying it.

I hate being in front of the camera, so this one definitely pushed it for me:

i hate photos of myself

Street Photography is definitely out of my comfort zone. Selfies are too. I hate to give the same response as everyone, but it's true
