FACEBOOK - NEW VIRUS

I've received an e-mail warning about a new virus. here is what it says: I quote

This virus will be received from someone you had in = your address book =
If you receive an email called: Invitation Facebook, though sent by a friend In the coming days you should be aware - DO NOT OPEN IT - delete it right away immideately. it is the worst VIRUS announced by CNN. it starts with facebook- your name, you have notifications pending - DO NOT OPEN IT even when there us a name attached of one of your friends.

A new VIRUS has been discovered = recently that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever, it is a Trojan Horse that asks you to install an abode = flash plug - in, once you install it it's all over. and there is no = repair yet for this kind of virus.

Please pass this on to your friends.

most of these are hoax emails.. I would try looking at snopes.com to see if its real or not..

The "Invitation Facebook" virus is a hoax. It's been around, in one form or another, since 2003ish. Google 'invitation Facebook virus' for a plethora of information.

@bruni That's referring to a completely different virus from the fake one in the email you said you received.

@bruni It's all very frustrating, no? Some things sound legit, some do not, and they 'get' people by counting on their good nature and desire to help their friends. That's why it's always good to Snopes anything like this first - they are a wealth of information on this stuff! :)

@bruni Again...two totally different viruses. There are tons of viruses out there, not to mention Trojan horses, spyware, etc. The 'false' virus is the Invitation Facebook one - see my link above. The one you keep referencing is the Trojan worm/virus Koobface. Two totally different things. One is true, one is false.
