My husband and I are talking about going to this volkswalk. It's Saturday December 10. The walks can start between 3-6pm. Anyone interested in joining us for the 5k walk to take photographs?
"The holiday atmosphere abounds as the walk winds through an historic neighborhood, across Capitol campus, around Capitol Lake and through a fairyland of lights in downtown Olympia. Flashlights and warm clothing are recommended. Coffee and homemade cookies will be available at the checkpoint, the Phoenix Inn, the walk co-sponsors. If timed just right, one can see the lighted Christmas ships cruise by Percival Landing about 6 p.m" http://www.meetup.com/walkers-574/events/43120192/
I might just have to try and make this! Wonder if @nikkers@pwallis@jaydenpena@burningjello are interested? Paula, I know it's a long drive for you but it would be nice to meet you and your family!
@shadesofgrey , @dmortega , well poooooo , I will be on a buying trip for work that Sat and then Ed and I are going to his works Christmas party.. Hope you all have a great time.. and would love to meet up again sometime soon....
@byrdlip --- We expect to go to the starting point to sign in at 4pm but will be doing the 5k which I think is at the capitol. We really want to take pictures so won't be rushing through the walk at all.
@byrdlip --- Hmmm .... I was just listening to KOMO radio and heard an ad for Hawk Prairie. How long does it take to get to Olympia from Seattle? 2 hours?
@dmortega That would be about right. Tacoma Dome area could be a slower and the rest of the south trip would be good. Pick the left center lane after 38th St and hold to that, should give you consistent travel time past the bases.
@dmortega We're looking at the weather, and between what I went thru this morning and how cold it is suppose to be this evening (a very litle mist is falling here and is 35F outside right now), we may play baseball and call a rain delay. So if you don't see us there, have a good time and say hi to Chris (just-one-of-the-boys) G. if you see her out and about.

@digitalrn --- Rick, check out meetups in your area. I bet you'll find some photography groups or volkswalk groups. http://www.meetup.com/
Don't know if we can make the entire distance, may see what is there on the Capital Campus and drive down to the water front.
"Both 5k and 10k routes start at the Tourism info center on Capitol Way."
We plan to arrive at 4pm to signup for the 5k. This shorter walk will give us plenty of time to take pictures. See you then.
Don't forget Saturday morning will be a full lunar eclipse. Hope it's clear for us.
Interesting info.
