Manual settings on a P&S (if they exist at all!).

I am looking for a P&S that has the capacity of manual shutter speeds. Do any of you RKI's have knowledge of such a beastie?

Thanks and Pax Christi

An friend of a friend just bought one of these the other day when we took a trip to a camera store with my photography class. He raves about it.

I have a Canon P&S, it's a bit old now by standards,Powershot A2000 IS, but it does have some abilities to change up shutter speeds. I've been very happy with it, and would recommend looking into the brand for sure.

I have a Canon Powershot SX1 IS (And it has manual shutter speed settings) :)

I have a Kodak Easyshare Z612, and believe it or not, it has manual overrides for just about everything. It is quite limited--ISO tops out at 400, lens opens to f2.8, shutter speed at 1/1000 and 16 seconds time exposure. However, if I had one that did more, I wouldn't know what to do with it. :)

Until I can afford the Leica DX-1, I just bought the Easyshare C190. It has the capacity of up to 8 sec. manual shutter. Thanks everyone, and God bless!

Canon IXUS series, mine offers up to 15sec. That was £150...never the less good luck with your purchase

If you ask me, most P&S have the capabilities today just not very well used. goto you local camera store/electronic store and look. I did a P&S study in my gallery and it was with a 10 year old p&s and did it all using manual mode.

first in the series of 7

Most of my pictures are taken using my compact. It's a Canon Powershot S90. It's brilliant, as it has the manual settings of a D-SLR including the ability to change your shutter speed (and aperture too), an f/2 lens, RAW capability and a sensor bigger than most other point and shoots. Get it!
