I have got a new DSLR(Christmas present) and am looking for recommendations on how to use DSLR-books, websites etc. Can anyone recommend any to me. I have a Nikon D90 if that is of any importance?
I have a Nikon D3100, which is not as nice as a D90 but has some of the same controls. Have you tried shooting in P-mode (program) and adjusting the white balance? The shade white balance gives pictures a warm, yellow glow and makes skin look more natural. The incandescent white balance setting makes your pictures look bluer. I like playing with my white balance settings.
If I can add this is my first SLR camera also, so some hints on getting to grips with all the settings would be great. Am I best to buy a book like the Dummies book? Will have to get it online so can look at it before I buy.
I don't know what part of NZ you're in, but the Auckland libraries have tons of books. So do Tech Books in Newmarket, or you can order books from Amazon (UK) with free shipping to NZ and Australia. Most retail bookshops here don't have much in the way of photography books unfortunately. But try the library :)
Thanks Michael. Am in Auckland, but most of the books are out till at least feb and I really wanted to try to get to grips with the settings as much as possible before school goes back and my time is taken away. I might order a few books :)

Dennis Thomas and David Busch also have good "field guides".
NikonCafe have good forums if you want to ask questions or look around: http://www.nikoncafe.com/vforums/index.php
