Wrong date for picture

July 20th, 2010
I got up early to take my theme picture this morning so I would be within the parameters for the proper dates. Then this evening I looked at the settings for the picture on 365 and was surprised to see the date listed as July 18. So I checked the settings for date and time in the camera and they appeared to be correct. I was puzzled until it dawned on me that I had set the time for a 12 hour clock but it was actually a 24 hour clock. My time was actually 12 hours off. I have adjusted it, but I wanted to alert those of you who might not have been aware that 6:00 means 6:00 AM only. And Ross, if you are reading this, please cut me some slack.

hmmm.... when I click on my photos it shows upload date and size, but not anything about the camera type or date taken - I wonder why?

I just looked at my details... the date taken is ok, but the date upload is not... it's about 3 hours ahead of time. I was wondering is the "date upload" supposed to be your local time? Or the server time? My time zone in my settings is ok...

Here are the 2 times for my image:
Date taken 2010-07-18 18:00:04
Date Uploaded: 2010-07-19 11:01:08

Since I actually uploaded 10 minutes or less after I took it, obviously the time for the upload came from some other source, I'm guessing GMT which would be accurate because we are 5 hours behind England and I took the picture at 6 AM.

The info is called exif (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exif)

The data can and is added by most cameras when the image is taken.

Some software (LR3 beta comes to mind) strips this data off the image depending on how the image is saved or exported.

I wouldn't have too much faith in most exif as it can be easily changed or added with software. When i am on the ball I add it to my film shots.

Time can be many things... time taken, edited, saved, etc...

Also watch when you post a picture, then the theme is posted. Do you add the tag or not?? I had that happen, posted the photo and two hurs later the theme was posted.

Any photo taken during the theme perameters can be submitted. It has happened to several (or maybe almost all of us) times that the theme coincidentally matches a photo just taken. Definitely tag it.

I think (I read it before but can't remember where) it's because the site is in England so the time is settle on Greenwich's time or something like this. I've noticed I have an hour different and it correspond to the lag with England.
