Thank you so very much for choosing Reflecting as the winner of the Paula Rego artist Challenge! All of the entries were so amazing and its an honor to be hosting.
I've decided to choose Alfred Stieglitz as our featured artist this go around. As a photographer, Alfred Stieglitz played a major role in the recognition of photography as art form .
If you have the time I found this documentary that was very interesting and inspiring showcasing not only him and some photographs I have never seen but other amazing artists he promoted of his time as well. (including Georgia o keeffe his wife)
Alfred Stieglitz did many things to promote artists and freedom of expression in modern art and photography. I encourage you to find your inner artist and let it shine through with this one. He took portraits,nudes,street,landscape,abstract,hands,clouds, etc. There is something for everyone so have fun and be creative!
The rules are fairly simple: study the artist (Google will help you here) and then :
Take a photograph recreating a particular work as closely as possible to the original or better yet photograph something in a style that is reminiscent of his work- mood, light, composition,feeling, colour. Or you could just take a concept from his work and make it your own. Have fun!
