Hey
I Love this website, and most of all the international and diverse range of members. I love seeing pics from all over the world showing different climates, environments and cultures. i thought it might be interesting if we posted a view of where we 'actually' live, to compare on one thread the range of differing locations. So my idea was if everyone posted a pic of their street - but then instead of taking a pic of my street to start off I took a pic of a building indicative of Bolton, a big cotton mill - so either way show where you live over the next few days - either your street or something that shows your area off - not the most beautiful landmark or anything, just for comparison, and no grand views from helicopters or the opneing of a new skyscraper - it has to be something TYPICAL which you see everyday, so i can travel the world vicariously. This is my first post ever so if someone else wants to have good ideas about how to end it, how long to persist and whether to tag your pics my-street or something and get more technical, feel free!!!!!
Awesome idea! I'm going to be home for spring break next week so you've inspired my pictures for the 20th-27th! Here are a few older pics that I couldn't resist sharing :)
This one is my grandparent's backyard, in Southern IL (Shiloh Hill), USA.
This is my dorm at school... Urbana, IL, USA
And this is my view whenever I drive through Southern IL on my way home from U of I :)
These pics were taken around my cabin near Talkeetna, Alaska. Just spent a week up there and had sunny blue skies the entire time. The lighting was perfect for photos at anytime.! I love Alaska and feel lucky to live here.
@chewyteeth Haha, I didn't always live down here. I used to live in Ohio, which is VERY far away from the ocean. Moved down here a few years ago and loving it! :)
Where is Bolton?
@sarabeth_photo It is between Manchester and Preston in Lancashire England. It has a very significant past, but like many old indutrial towns in the north it is a bit depressed now, (economically, not emotionally) but for a decent bit of seaside that doesn't shorten your life expectancy it would be a good two or three hours drive I reckon. Very jealous.
Great discussion bro!
Shall we try and make Bolton famous? :p
These are from the lovely land of Bolton
I love Rivington which is about 10 mins in the car from mine.. best bit of Bolton! So heres some of Rivvy..
Sorry if thats too many :p
I might do this as a theme this week Davey I like it!!
And I pass over this bridge overlooking the M8 motorway every monday when I take the girls to their swimming lessons. Over to the right is the Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre and slightly to the left of the lamp post is a blue light which is the Cranhill Water Tower which is a fairly well known Glasgow landmark.
This is Philadelphia and I know you said no skyscrapers, but not only do I work on one, but I review the proposals and designs for new buildings. I actually made a rule not to take photos for this on my street, just to keep a small level of privacy in this project.
I actually lived in the building on the right side of the photo.
This is the view from my office window.
I took this picture long time ago when I went home to Colombia for vacations. I just downloaded so I can show it to you guys. This little town is call Villa de leyva and I love it. I used to spend most of the holidays and weekends there and It is one of the things I miss more about my country
Born and Raised in Bellingham, WA and I absolutely love the environment that surrounds me!
This is from a local State park. I love that I get it all, water, green, and the mountains in one single view!
This is one of the most well known and most recognized restaurants in town...not to mention delicious fish n chips!
I live near San Francisco. This is a view of the area across the street from where I live. See description of photo for more details as to why there is a couch by the field.
I live about an hour out of Melbourne, Australia on the edge of the Dandenong Ranges. I love the views we get from our property and the peace we get from not having neighbours living too closely. Though at times it would be nice to live closer to where my boys go to school, swimming, scouts etc and not have to travel back and forth, spending much of my day in the car lol!!
Netley Abbey is a ruined medieval monastery in the village of Netley near Southampton in Hampshire, England. The abbey was founded in 1239 as a house for monks of the austere Cistercian order. We live just around the corner from it!

Cool thread! I think I might be inspired to take some more shots of my city. Here is one to start with. I live in Bloomington, Indiana. This is a few blocks from my house.
The powers that be should design some kind of map linked to the website and we could all post our photos to our town until there is a photo-tour of the globe! Everyones photos are great!!
What a great idea! I just need to get out and get some of where I live. For ages I've wanted to try and get a photo of our High Street where we have the Catholic Church on one side of the road and on the opposite side the local Gurdwara, to me is sums up how culturally diverse where I live is.
this is a shot from a nearby food fair, where you can get from tourist friendly burgers, fries and tacos to native delicacies that 90% of the world's population would never touch, let alone eat. :D
from the Philippines. :)
@chewyteeth The pictures are all from my neighborhood in Ramat Gan , near Hapark Haleumi, between Ramamt chen and Ramat Shikma, The southern part of the town.
Is that is what you mean?
this is the tidal bore in truro, nova scotia, canada ... the bay of fundy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bay_of_Fundy) has one of the world's highest tides and is in contention for the new 7 wonders of the world ... i'm lucky to live in such a beautiful place! this shot was taken in january ... i'm looking forward to heading to the same spot in the summer for a less chilly photo!
@chewyteeth What an AWESOME idea for a thread! Seeing all the different places us 365ers call home is one of the reasons I love this site so much. Here's one I took a couple weeks ago from my kitchen window.
@yoelao Yeh, I follow you and think I knew where you were, (near Tel Aviv?) but in case people didn't know your pics I liked the idea of an exhibition of pictures from round the world with their tags, like a tour. thanks!
This is a great topic. We just left New Mexico, USA after living there for 16 years (myself) and 25 years (my husband). We left the hot desert of southern New Mexico for the cold forests of northern Idaho.
White Sands, New Mexico
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
We live in BC, Canada. This is the view from our yard
And this is a view I see nearly every day when it's clear, at least in winter :)
I feel very lucky
Glasshouse Mountains, Queensland, Australia. This is the view of Mount Tibrogargan from my back pergola and also what I see when I lay in bed. Never the same two days running and always beautiful.
I live one street back from this river, the Macleay, in mid-northern New South Wales, Australia; this is the sort of view that greets me on most mornings as I cross the bridge.
I've actually just moved a little away from this spot, but I used to live close to the Parramatta River in Sydney, Australia. I would often walk along the river, day or night.
Perth Australia is very pretty - but has some awfully cheesy places - this is near where I work in the middle of the city - and for a place that is only 180 years old - we have no other buildings like this....
I live in The Netherlands/Holland in the middle of the country.
- First picture is the view of my bedroom.
- Second picture is my flat building (from the other side). Been living here basicly all my life :-)
(I am not a photographer ^_^ Just do it for fun and to document my days)
here's a typical BUSY SCENE in XIMENDING - one of Taipei's busiest and most popular hangouts...
and one of my MOST FAVE things to see in Taipei are the METRO Stations.... lots of them are nicely decorated.. like permanent exhibitions....
I live in a sleepy village until I get my sculpture tools out. When finished I like to display them in front of the house. It gives people something to look at when they are strolling by. My house is the furthest on the left near the wall. Currently I have two large oak pieces about 4ft high which I carved with a chainsaw.
The beautiful Mt Lofty Botanic Garden in the Adelaide Hills, the treetops shrouded in low lying cloud. sigh, it was beautiful there that day!
This is 7mins from my home. (:
Our village church with lots of history. I love the gravestones all at wobbly angles. On thursday nights the bell ringers go wild. 10 years ago got married there and a few christenings thrown since then. Thats 4 services I have attended there.
