I was just so over the moon when I learned that my edit of “Chad” a local and most cooperative model was chosen as the winning Etsooi for 156th challenge. Truly and most grateful.
Wikipedia gives a wonderful explanation: “Creativity is any act, idea, or product that changes an existing domain, or that transforms an existing domain into a new one”.
Etsooi is a term of creativity. In my humble opinion, the process of employing etsooi can be liberating and a great deal of fun. I was googling the term and found that post announcing the current win from 365 was 8th listing. Who knew that project 365 was so famous.
Editland is where I go when I engage the etsooi process. Bringing new highlights or contrast to all or just a specific portion of the image is one level of etsooi. There are thousands of levels of edits that one can explore of utilize. Sometimes letting the edits take you where ‘they’ want to go can be truly liberating and allow one to unshackle one’s Muse and create something exciting out of a mundane, blah or plain ugly image.
There are only two rules for this challenge:
1) Your starting image MUST be taken within the designated time frame
2) You MUST have taken the picture yourself.
There are no boundaries on the way you edit your picture. So, be creative; the more creative the better!
If you're new to this challenge and need some help there are plenty of programs available to upload to your computer: Affinity, Photoshop, Lightroom, Topaz and more. There are free on-line programs at websites such as ribbet.com, fotor.com, befunky.com, getpaint.net
For the phone and tablet there are many apps: Snapseed, PicsArt, Pencil Sketch, Free Camera360, Deep Art Effects, Distressed FX+, Hyperspektiv, and ToonCamera.
The challenge will start Sunday February 11th
and
End on March 15th (the ides of March)
