COUNTRYFILE PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION 2011

June 20th, 2011
Hi everyone

There is just so much talent on 365 - It would be great if we all entered this competition, its for a good cause.

Closing date is 12 August 2012. Sorry to all our overseas friends - this is just for people living in the UK.

The title for the BBC Countryfile Photographic Competition 2011 is “Best In Show”. There are 12 different classes:
Farm Life
Landscapes
Birds
Working Animals
Water Worlds
Country People
Wildlife
Leisure & Pleasure
In All Weathers
Insects & Spiders
Plant Life
The Lighter Side of Country Life

The photo the judges declare best in each class will appear in the Countryfile Calendar for 2012 sold in aid of Children In Need. The overall winner – as voted for by Countryfile viewers – will be declared “Best in Show”. The judges will also choose their favourite entry.

You can enter up to four photos in total but you must declare which class you want each photo to be judged in. Each photo can only be entered in one class. The closing date for entries is Friday 12th August 2011. The person who takes the winning photo gets to choose from a range of the latest photography equipment to the value of £1,000. The person who takes the photo the judges like best gets to choose equipment to the value of £500. Last year’s calendar raised almost £1.2m for Children In Need.

This looks like fun. Am I right in thinking we have to print out and send actual photos or can they be sent electronically? As you've done it already Lee, you'd be the best person to answer this @asrai
June 20th, 2011
@psychographer Ive just read it and you have to send prints :( Good luck GG xx
June 20th, 2011
@psychographer yeah you have to send prints I sent mine 10 x 8
June 20th, 2011
@tori3012 @asrai Thanks guys. I think I should be able to manage insects, wildlife, plants and water. It seems to be about all I take photos of anyway ;o) Does it mention whether they need to be new photos or do you think it'd be ok to trawl though the thousands of shots I have to find something suitable?
June 20th, 2011
@psychographer as long as they haven't been entered for any other competition you can use whatever shots you like.
June 20th, 2011
@asrai Im sending A4 size ( not sure what that is in inches).. Have you sent them recorded delivery or just normal post? By the way great shots and good luck xx
June 20th, 2011
A4 is 8.27 x 11.69 inches (I still remember that from my printing days) ,I sent mine recorded, but then I usually do that with all my prints , and good luck yourself :) xx
June 20th, 2011
@asrai Brilliant. I did have a quick look at the rules and saw that no editing so to speak is allowed. Looking forward to it :o)
June 20th, 2011
@psychographer they can be digitally enhanced but not manipulated so you can still do your basic touch up editing if you like :D
June 20th, 2011
@asrai Cool. Thanks for that. I do sometimes leave shots alone so I'm going to check out my hundreds of folders to see what I have that's suitable. Oh, and good luck with your shots btw. They're really good xx
