First, thanks for choosing my picture for the last challenge, I'm very honoured.
For the next challenge I'd like to select Robin Rhode, a 35 year old South African artist, living in Berlin. I came across his work accidentally a few years back. There's a large photographic element in his work although that's not all he does. I really liked the sense of fun running through his work.
Here's a little description from whitecube.com
Embracing a variety of media – principally photography, but also drawing, animation, performance and sculpture – the work of Robin Rhode uses simple, ephemeral devices (soap, charcoal, paint and chalk) to comment on urban youth culture, colonialism and socio-economic issues in a simple, witty and subtly effective way. His work often uses the street as his canvas or his backdrop, alluding to hip-hop and the role of the graffiti artist, and he often operates within the gritty aesthetic associated with that culture.
Hopefully there will now be a few of his picture to look at!
@rich57 quick question, I wanted to see what everyone had done so far, and when I searched photos for artist-rhode it seems to bring up loads of photos of Rhode Island. I even searched by "artist-rhode" and still came up with Rhode Island. Do you want everyone to post on this link, or do we want to change to artistrhode with no hyphen?
