Abstracts All the Rage.

August 4th, 2011
It all started out so simple, a guy with a guitar and a girl with an idea, and it seems to really have found an excellent month challenge and home at 365. Even though we are only on the fourth day, I was surprised to see at least ten photos from this theme this morning on the popular page. I really love how this challenge is getting my eye and brain to look at objects and subjects differently. I now feel more like an artist and not just a person who takes pretty good photos.

For those that want to join, it is never too late and the time to start is whenever you are ready. There seem to be so few rules to abstract, that it is really how your imagination and mind take an object and portray it in a photo. Here are two articles for you to read if you are interested.

I really love how this theme lets you find the abstract through a variety of composition, lighting, macro, editing, exposure, and subject. There really seems to be no limitations to what you can do.

Remember to tag the photos abstractaugust.

It's funny, at first I thought, no, I don't want to do that, not interested. Then all of a sudden, I am seeing new ideas all around me. Plus I realised that I have been taking abstracts here and there all along (mainly due to my obsession with macros)! 365 already made me view my world differently, now it's like I am on to a new level. Thanks for coming up with the abstracts month!.

@tori3012 I figured some people missed the original discussion so I posted a second one to answer any questions. Welcome to the challenge and no you were not the only one confused. It seems to be a broad term with not a lot of articles out there.

Ha congrats on starting a 365 trend! I chuckle every time I see someone excited about it, I seem to remember your original discussion took a bit to pick up steam. Now its going full bore ahead.

I am not an abstract sort of person, but I am starting to think about it when I take my pic for the day...put one up yesterday and have one planned for tomorrow. They can be liberating! Not as much worry about super perfect focus (on some of them) and fun to let creativty come out. In abstracts, we can show something TOTALLY new and unique, which is hard on Project365 when we all seem to be shooting the same types of things.

@brumbe almost...kinda anxious about getting back into the swing of things here. Looking forward to it though.
