I am doing a maternity shoot for a friend. She is having a November baby so I am thinking of doing a fall theme.
I have some ideas but am interested in hearing what others think.
Here are some things I have come up with:
-Holding a little pumpkin (if I can find one)
-Holding a leaf
-Sitting in a pile of leaves
-Standing/sitting by a tree that has turned
and some off theme ideas (cliche, I know):
-holding a sonogram
-hand cupping a pair of shoes
-blocks spelling out baby or boy or his name (extremely cliche!)
-hands forming a heart over belly
-the father holding belly
-the father and the daughter kissing bump
I have more but don't have the time to post them all now.
Look forward to reading what others come up with!
Please keep in mind that I don't have a studio and I will probably be doing the shoot outdoors.
@kcphotography - I saw a link to a photo before (might have been on this site, but I can't remember) of a woman holding her ultrasound (I assume that's the same as a sonogram) over the bump but I think it had been photoshopped a little, so it looked like you were looking into the bump. That was really cool. The other ideass sound cool too - maybe ask the mother what sort of photos she wants too.
That sounds like a neat one.....just a little Photoshop work with layers ! I mentioned fake leaves thinking of where I am right now....Upstate New York....been raining here for about two weeks !!
Thanks all for the remarks and ideas! Unfortunately, I don't have photoshop atm (its on my VERY long list of things I want, but can't afford), but I do have an overabundance of LEAVES!! (the real ones)
@nyweb - that's a really cool idea! I like it!! I think I might try a similar version of it outside with some real leaves. Maybe sit her up against a tree or something.
When you mentioned leaves, I immediately saw a pregnant woman casually leaning against the side of a beautifully colored fall tree, on a small hill, with the sun just starting to set behind her. I'd photograph her full length profile, so to get the tree as well, but don't have her look at the camera, and shoot it from about 15-20 yards away. You could do the same thing with her, but have her sitting on the side of the tree and reading a book, may be have it resting on her belly as she reads. The emphasis should be on the baby bump, just in a more subtle way. Hope this helps :)
