Does anyone sell photos online? I take photos of my daughter's cheer events. I get some great shots. Parents love them...I post them on fb for them to see. I know they can't really print them out to good quality cuz I make them for web before I post and watermark. But I was wondering about offering it to parents to buy them.
Anybody know of a site that lets you post pictures and then lets people buy them, but I get at least part of the money?
There are a number of services out there that can facilitate this for you. Some that come to mind are Zenfolio, SmugMug, Exposure Manager, etc. The downfall is you really do get what you pay for, and you have to pay to play. But if you're serious about selling prints it's worth it to do it right.
If you aren't looking for a service to handle all of the back-end/sales/printing work for you, you could go the route of setting up a personal website with a gallery, or use flickr or something to create sets that they can look through. Then just have them pick out the images they like and ask them what size they want and go get them printed yourself and then charge accordingly so it covers the cost of the print and puts money into your pocket.
So, there are plenty of ways to go about it, but deciding how deep you want to get yourself into the sales process will ultimately dictate which direction you go.
I sell some on Etsy.com. It cost .20ยข per image and 3.5% of sale price. I have them printed online; Snapfish or Photobucket. I always use coupon codes and save $.
