Inspired by other discussion topics and others wonderful photos edited in GIMP I thought I would give it a try.
Usually I have no problem with these sort of things but I just cannot work out how to download GIMP. The first time I tried it it told me 6 hours to download so left it working overnight and it said 21 hours and had done nothing by morning. This has happened again with different browser (sometimes downloads not keen on Chrome)
I'm using Windows Vista if that makes any difference.
I would appreciate any tips from anyone who knows about these things, thanks :)
I can't really help I'm afraid. When I downloaded it, it took about a minute. Maybe try again today - it's possible the site was playing up. Or maybe reset your internet box (off then on again) cos that sometimes helps if things are being slow.
Took my computer only a minute or two to download (Firefox), but I don't have Vista. I agree with rebooting or trying on another day. It's worth the trouble, Suzy!
On the Sourceforge page that *should* come up when you download there are a couple of links (in blue text) where you can download from a direct link or choose another mirror (alternative download site) try the direct link option first and if you still have problems try selecting a different mirror. Otherwise, maybe leave it for a few hours. It could just be a problem with the amount of traffic on that site at the time you were trying to download.
Thanks for all your suggestions, have tried them all but still no success, have tried it on a different computer too but still unable to download, maybe the whole site is just playing up and it's not really me doing anything wrong! Will try again in a few days and keep my fingers crossed.
Hooray!! I've downloaded GIMP!!! Thanks to all esp. Lisa for your help, in the end it worked using a different mirror. Now just need to get going with my photos and editing :)
