Cold war defence boom, Shoeburyness

This is part of the structure that was visible in the distance in the 5th's shot, I couldn't resist it. :-D
A bit of info.about it can be found down the page a ways here : http://www.southend.gov.uk/info/841/historic_sites_and_monuments/96/overview_of_southends_history/5

Despite having lived in Southend for a short spell when young, I didn't know about this. Couldn't find the link though.

@gooner46 Hi Chris. Did the link take you to the page headed "Overview of Southend's History" successfully ? If so, the info's just a single para.'s worth , 6th one down. Hope that helps.

Interesting geometry in this shot - the lines and the shadows especially.

I love this, the shadows, the lead-in line, and the splash of colour added by the person in the distance. Fave.

Fabulous lines and pov and there are those people to give it that extra and make the scene just perfect!

A great composition. The lines lead you through the picture right out to the sea and then there is the added interest of the people.

Wonderful shot.

This is very near my neck of the woods.... were you here over the Bank Holiday weekend? I love the symetry and repeating lines, and those two little figures out on the mud. I've never seen this, I must go and check out, perhaps with @heidihp on one of our field trips!

@jackie8 Thanks, Jackie. Yes, we went up on the Sunday. We pop up to Southend on a whim sometimes if the weather's good and have lunch and a stroll along the esplanade. Like fools we forgot about the Bank Holiday weekend this time and it was heaving when we got there, so went on to Shoeburyness.

Lines galore! I love how the posts lead the eye into the shot and out of sight. Great shadows and light, too!

Fab leading lines!

I can almost smell the sea. That is quite an impressive and dominating feature. I like that you have the two people in there in the distance, they add to the sense of scale and 'the living with-ness" of the place.

It looks nice and peaceful there, away from the madding crowds!
