Today it was raining and I went grocery shopping. Yesterday it was beautiful and we went to the BEACH.
I couldn't narrow it down to less than a dozen and I expect I'll be using these for a few of the predicted upcoming rainy days.
Really awesome images. Best of all you have really captured the beauty of childhood. To me, the clean, uncomplicated composition spells out the innocence and genuity
My challenge for you is to take a portrait without a person in it. Someone gave me this challenge before and it is super fun! Basically show something about a person without them being in the frame.
@edie oh that would be awesome. Not sure where you are though. My family is on lake Erie. I will have to do some research to figure out where you are and maybe do a day trip.
@havrotb This is from yesterdays thread... I am not sure what the secret is. I like a shallow dof so I have my camera set to AV for manual aperture (which I think is A on a Nikon) and the aperture as wide as I can get it (which on my camera is 4.0) I set my focus on manual or automatic depending on what I'm shooting. In post I just lightened the exposure a little and in one I cloned out a dark spot (rock or something) in the sand.
I am flattered you asked Barbara. I have found a setting I like and that works for these shots that I am really enjoying right now but I am still learning so much about my camera.
@taffy Thank you so much. It's very high key so the details all blend. The negative space is all water so it's mostly composition there. I posted my camera settings above as well as my processing. This seems to have been a perfect day. All my shots came out really great and didn't require a whole lot of processing. (I posted one sooc but changed it afterwards but the difference was negligible)
@edie Thanks -- they really are very effective shots and I love the feeling in all three of them (this one and the two of the girl walking). Brilliant!
Edie, I agree with all that has been said. These high key shots are just wonderful. So bright and happy. Love your compositions & processing. Your daughter makes for a perfect model, too.
