Today is Thanksgiving in the US. It is a day to be thankful for all of the amazing people in your life and to be grateful for all of your good fortunes. I am personally so thankful for my family because I have the best husband and son. Our life is not always perfect, but I am so happy to have those two guys in my life. They just make me smile and improve my life in more ways than they could ever know. I also have amazing parents, sisters, grandmother (Happy Birthday Ma!), aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
This was the first Thanksgiving that my husband and I have hosted in our new house, and it went wonderfully. The morning was a little tough because my son decided to start the terrible two’s today. He was extremely defiant and threw himself to the floor countless times (now I know where yoga gets the name Child Pose). The only thing that really calmed him down was a visit from Auntie Katie @mcdougall and Uncle Mike. My sister was playing videos on her phone for him, and he was just cracking up. It was great to see him laugh.
Once he went down for his nap, we got everything prepped so when my husband’s family arrived, everyone just had to heat the food they brought. The only minor mishap that we had was we cooked the turkey upside down for two hours, but it turned out fine. Right as we finished eating, I went and got my son up. His mood had improved, and although he was a little fussy, he was mostly great the rest of the day. After dinner, my father-in-law who was playing the violin and my husband’s cousin who was playing the guitar went down to the family room to entertain all of us. My son was having a great time listening to the music, dancing and “helping” his grandfather organize his sheet music. It was a wonderful day, and I am happy to report that I did not over eat! Now, I am off to lay on the couch and watch a movie with my husband.
