My son M. was running around the dining room this afternoon, tripped, fell and hit his head getting a cut above his left eye. Now this kid is pretty tough and does not normally cry when he falls. This one hurt though because he was crying on and off for almost an hour. My husband and I were obviously concerned, but when my mom, a nurse anesthetist, told us we needed to go have it checked out, we packed up the boys and headed to the ER.
M. is not a good patient. He flipped when the nurse tried to take his blood pressure and temperature, and that was just part of registration. To keep him occupied, we pulled out his cars so that he could play with them while we waited. The doctor decided that stitches were not necessary and that they would glue the wound shut instead. In order to do that, the doctor, the nurse and my husband had to hold him down. He is going to be fine but will have a scar.
Oh yeah, it hurts like heck to bump the bone around the eye. Better to being him in, even if he didn't need stitches after all or have a concussion . Tomorrow it'll all be just a memory. :-)
Sorry to hear. Can't tell ya how many times that's happened with my sons. But that's the fun in being parents to boys. And the scar will give him street credit in school. Lol Nice capture.
Poor guy! I got kicked in the face by a horse when I was five (my brother says, "oh! That's what happened!"). In order to stitch underneath my upper lip, the doc needed four nurses and my mom to keep me down......good times!
Such a brave boy!! not nice for you guys to go through the trauma either! Tyler slipped in the bath last week and had to have 3 stitches to the inside of his top lip and gum. He was so co operative.
The doc was shocked that he could do the whole procedure under local anaesthetic in his rooms. No GA or sedative needed.Hope your little one heals quickly!
