Oh the irony!!! Even as I was leaving notes to you on my site, Ken was reading a note sent by the man who stays at our house while we're away and he photographed a coyote eating cat food in our back yard!!! We're in a quandary as Greg stays there to feed the cats who call our yard home (some for 14-15 years!) but are feral. They may eat at 5, but sit at the back door by 11 if they're hungry again before we head to bed. Now what?! I, too, like to believe they're just fishers, but I don't trust them...certainly not in a yard full of cats!
I should have said you shot a beautiful photo and he's certainly a healthy-looking specimen! I was just so amazed to see this as it was the immediate topic of conversation where I'm sitting!
@Weezilou I understand - I grew up in Silverlake in LA - close enough to Griffith Park for these buggers to come in to our yard. We had many feral cats too - thankfully we had places for the cats to run and hide - you are right not to trust them. I would shew them away for sure! I don't like hearing them at night here only for that reason. We feed a neighborhood kitty and when I hear them yipping out there, while it's cool it's eerie and I worry about kitty.
Beautiful shot of this fascinating animal - great details on the coyote - have just seen them running across a field occasionally - never a chance to see one up close. Great photo.
