In NY they lower a ball of crystal, in some other areas they mark the moment of new year with their own special way. I recently read that in one area down by the gulf shores, the city of Mobile lowers a large, lighted moonpie, for which that area is known for. It is to look like the moonpie logo in the upper left of their painted signage here. With this shot taken last month, I wish us all a positive new year.
I took a few shots of birds today but this seemed to fit a little more.
I'm starting year 3 thanks to all of you! What a great community of kindness and generosity and beauty. I appreciate your support and kind words, suggestions and inspiration, your sharing of knowledge and ideas! Thank you for your visits and comments and thank you most especially, for sharing the windows into your worlds and lives. It really is a beautiful world, filled with amazing people. Thank you and all the best in the new year.
Year 7 on this adventure! I’m especially appreciative of the community found here! I am inspired by everyone; learning from so many. Your shares make...
Do love the way you were able to express your thoughts about this 365 site - my thoughts exactly. And love the moon pie story - had always heard of them since I moved to the south, but never had one.
@cottiac you're coming on it soon! I know you will continue, yes? I enjoy seeing your part of the world through your lens view. I hope to travel there some day.
@milaniet thank you. I enjoy your photos immensely and when I visited my father in law in north east Alabama, I was able to see some of your lovely birds in person! You will have to try a moonpie! I prefer the vanilla or even banana over the traditional chocolate. I understand there's a town in Tennessee (Bellbuckle?) that hosts an annual festival of the moonpie. Happy new year!
It's fireworks on the Harbour here ☺
love the sentiment expressed in your words...agree wholeheartedly
