Open up your heart, tell me you love me.....

Fillers for the rest of June - I just didn't pick the camera up for a while after having it as my constant companion for two months

23 April was St Jordi's Day, or St George's Day as we would call it. The legend says that when he slayed the dragon, red roses sprang up from the drops of the dragon's blood.

It was a public holiday, and the tradition is that the man gives the woman a rose to show his love for her, and the woman gives the man a book - to make him more intelligent (the guide laughed when she said that last bit - maybe she made it up?).

The florist shops on Las Ramblas were bursting with roses in every colour imaginable and book stalls had been set up on trestle tables, and by mid-afternoon we could barely move through the crowd. The local colours of red and blue were especially popular for roses, while boxed roses were wrapped in Catalan red and yellow striped ribbon.
Is this truly it's colours? Magnificent if so :)

@gilbertwood it must be painted - there were also roses in bright lime green and royal blue that were definitely artificially coloured - all very eye-catching but I thought these were the most beautiful. Its clever that they look like they could be real
