..and found this funny little guy. Looking through the macro I could see he had 6 legs and a bumpy body with little hairy tufts. Fascinating... had no idea he was living just outside my back door on my rosemary bush.
Since discovered that a ladybird has a lifecycle rather similar to that of a butterfly - this is the ladybird version of a caterpillar. When he's eaten his fill of aphids he'll curl up, make a chrysalis and open up as a ladybird. Many thanks to Holly Anna @redwax66 for identifying him/her for us! =)
Really touched by your views and comments on our lovely church window yesterday... I was sorry not to capture more of the faces ... it'll give me a target on a dull day perhaps! Thank you all for taking the time - it's really very appreciated.
@redwax66 Funny thing was, I went out looking for a ladybird... or any bug... and had no idea that I'd found one! The internet is amazing. One second it's an unidentified bug, the next second I'm an expert on ladybug lifecycles....! =)
That's an amazing shot. Love those colours and the soft background. I have no idea how people here come up with all these great bug shots..... all I get if I try are out of focus, blurry shots of grass!
