Friends' Cottage by filsie65

Friends' Cottage

Two of my dearest friends live here.... he is a New Yorker, she is Colombian. Now how they came to be married and living together in a little village in rural England is a long story - I'm just very glad that they are! Their gorgeous thatched cottage is down the road from me, they had it re-thatched last year and I think it looks smashing now!
Did the same 'recipe' on it as last week... the shadow from the tree opposite made it a bit speckledly.
So grateful to you for stopping by / commenting - you're smashing!! TGIFT x
What a wonderful house. I wouldn't want to be the roofer though... that's a crazy pitch combined with a thatched roof.

Nice subject and color. I'd love to see a thatched roof put on a house.

I guess you can't find anything like that in Italy: looks stunning. Love your colour treatment too which adds a lot to it

IThis cottage certainly has a fairy tail quality to it. I wouldn't mind calling it home myself.

Amazing capture and the sepia/monochrome effect has made it timeless. Could have been taken over 100 years ago. No powerline, no phone box and no cars. Fav for me.

Beautiful cottage. I love the thatched roof. I have never seen one in person. One day, I hope to travel to England to see those beautiful houses. I have only seen the city of London.

Beautiful cottage. It''s a lovely shot that I enjoy all the more because the subject matter is unlike anything else I've seen. I don't think I have ever seen anything with a thatched roof that wasn't just a simple hut. This home is beautiful.

What a lovely cottage! I like how you processed it so it aged it. Well done! I would love to move to England but you already know that and you know why as well. Great shot!

Now that is an awesome home! It’s so unlike anything you’d find in the States. I’m curious as to how one maintains a thatched roof.
