I was driving the girls home from school when I got a text from my younger sister 'mum is having her eye operation at 5pm'... first I even knew that she was having any. I hated the thought of her being alone there, 90 miles away, and was so glad to talk to her later, sounding jaunty and her normal self. Having had laser eye surgery last year I think I was able to understand and swap notes with her which helped her to reconcile it all, and I looked out of the window as we chatted, thinking how many folk around the world lose their eyesight due to cataracts which can be removed fairly easily, under local anaesthetic as an out-patient...
Anyway - this is a shot I took that morning, it seems apt that I found it really hard to find it through the viewfinder, and even changed the exposure a little to make sure you could see it now - after all it's big enough and it was broad daylight...!
You all brighten my day with your thoughtful comments and simply calling by for a closer look at my little offerings, thank you so much :) x
I'm glad your mother is fine, Phil! Sounds like my family ... "oh by the way daddy is (insert something traumatic)" ...
That serves as a good reminder to check in with parents, be grateful for something we take for granted and try to look up. You brighten many a day yourself. :o)
My dad has just had his eyes done........he is 86 this year and says he feels 18 now...perfect vision no glasses!! ......... isn't it an amazingly quick op that provides amazing results :)
Sounds like your Mum's ok so that's a relief, especially as you had no clue she was having it done :o) This shot reminds me of a potato print that's slightly fading as the paint runs out xx
Nice shot, Phil! :) I love that it's faded. It affirms that it's going to sleep for the day. I hope your mum is doing okay. I'd be scared to have my eyes operated on (although no glasses would be wonderful!). It's good that you were able to talk to her and share your experiences. She is lucky to have such a great daughter like you and it sounds like you have a good mum, too. Well done on the moon, Phil! :)
