Nice bright splash of colour and I hope that you are OK. Easily done though. I am forever fixing or replacing Mum-in-law's lawn mower cables. You do use a Residual Current Device (circuit breaker) to protect yourself don't you?
@steampowered Thanks Paul, how sweet of you to be concerned. I have to say it's the only electrical gadget I have so no, I don't have a circuit breaker but it would probably be a good idea following this flukey-accident... I was just about finished, too! It killed the computer somehow and I've had to re-install chrome etc to get back to the start again. I shall put an RCD on the shopping list next time I'm in homebase, promise. x :)
@steampowered PS It was a hedge-cutter... very exciting to use and I admit the pop/sparks when the wire caught the top of the cutter was quite exciting for a boring mumsy like me, too! I'm not planning to make a habit of it, though :)
@filsie65 It's good that you weren't hurt. I must admit that when I cut the hedge, I trail the cable over my shoulder so that very little of it is available to be savaged by the teeth. Not that it is impossible - I have seen that display of fireworks too! It's not a bad idea to get an RCD anyway. For what it is worth Homebase, Argos and Screwfix do them for about £9. After all, I wouldn't want to see you disappear from 365 in a puff of smoke!
Funny, I did this same thing last weekend. It tripped the breaker and nothing more than my cord was damaged - Phew. Glad to hear there was no real harm done.
