I actually sneaked down a long driveway to get a shot of this windmill on our recent trip to north Norfolk... I was amazed at how handsome and well-looked-after it is. Pleased to find a space to slot it into my project.
Tony prompted me to look it up - the amazing power of wikipedia! Here's a link if you're interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burnham_Overy_Staithe_Windmill
Lovely of you to call by - have a great weekend! :)
Beautiful capture but how did it come to be on the wrong side of the English Chanel ?? My expectation would be to see that in Holland. Do you have any history on this mill ??
@tonydebont Hi Tony! Glad you asked because it prompted me to look it up! I've added a link above. There were lots of windmills in Norfolk and into Cambridgeshire, it's very agricultural and quite flat in places. I know some dutch came over from Holland to help drain the land so perhaps that's what brought the style over. Norfolk is the sort of bump that sticks out from the southern east side of England so I guess it points towards the netherlands :)
