This is one of the streets in Herculaneum which was engulfed by mud during the volcanic eruption that destroyed Pompeii. As you can see, it is remarkably well preserved... we saw inside shops and houses, admired mosaics and even roman take-aways! Incredible. It was my friend Sue's wish to visit Herculaneum that led to our trip to Italy - so apt that I slot in a shot of this incredible, but empty little town.
Thanks as ever for popping in to see my little offerings :)
Isn't this a remarkable place! I visited 2 years ago- wandered those streets and imagined what life must have been like prior to the eruption of the volcano. Hope you are having a marvelous time in one of the most beautiful countries on earth! Have an Apperol Spritz!
