This amused me,,, some wag has painted the cross of St George over a mini-roundabout. The country got behind our young England team and it was great! Unfortunately, the Parochial Church Council decided to go ahead with the church fete which clashed with the England game... and predictably it all went very quiet at 2.55, five minutes before the game started. I begrudgingly (but nobly) stood my ground and added 'painting England flags' onto cheeks for 50p each to my stall. I had my kindle tuned in to the radio so at least could keep up with the game. I felt I was whizzing around in circles all weekend to please people so this seems apt.
