This shot is naff - really. They were stationary, I'm not normally so shaky but had just climbed over 100 spiral steps to get up there (which I just hate) so perhaps that is it. Anyway, forgive me as this is my only entry for the 'balance' theme this week and I've tried so hard to think of something and join in!
Went to Worcester Cathedral today - George enjoys bellringing and the local group had arranged a trip. Up in the gods of the cathedral tower we encountered this rather unusual sight - the bells are usually left resting facing down (as gravity would prefer) but they weigh an awful lot, and to get them in the upright position for ringing would take a lot of time and effort. So these were left 'up' and I thought it was a pretty good balancing act!
Can't decide on my '366' shot for today but this will fit rather nicely in my 'just stuff' folder while I have a glass of wine and think about it..!
Oh how we suffer for our art. I like this shot. I vote for it for the balance theme. Alas, I have no judgment when it comes to your pictures- I love them all.
I have no objection to heights but get wonky getting there, not just form the exertion, just not happy climbing, I had no idea bells stayed in the up position like that
Great shot and one that brings back memories for me. When I was younger I used to play trumpet in the school marching band. The band would play in the local church on Christmas Eve and a few of us would be given the honour (?) of playing in the bell tower before mass. When we had finished the bells would start ringing and since the bells were "swinging" across the only exit from the tower that meant we had to stay there until they stopped. Even with our fingers in our ears the noise was almost unbearable.
