This was the view from the bottom of the spiral staircase up the 'passion tower' at the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona... we had taken a lift up to the top of the tower and walked down...and down... and down...! You might recall my dislike of spiral staircases but the views at the top were amazing, not least close-up views of the cathedral itself. It was designed by Gaudi who made it his life's work - and still unfinished 100 years later.
No central post meant nothing to help balance... but at least I got an essential 365 shot done...!
Thanking you most sincerely for all your views on my Barcelona shots... still trying to catch up without flooding your inboxes... :)
Did you take this after your walk down? If so you have a very steady hand;0) It is such a fabulous shot and you've done so well do get down with no hand rail, think I would still be there
fabulous shapes and wonderful POV - I have been contemplating Barcelona and a Vespa tour of the Gaudi works n my next UK visit - so you recommend it? I have not been to Spain before
@lbmcshutter Hi Megan - there were lots of vespas buzzing about the city, looked an ideal way to explore! George even contemplated stealing one for the fun and comparative ease of getting about!! The traffic was a bit hairy but I think it felt worse as they were all 'driving on the wrong side of the road' and the traffic could continue over pedestrian crossings if nobody was there (even if it told the pedestrians to cross)... miles better than Parisian traffic though, and just over 2 hours from London..... (direct flights to Bristol too..)
@filsie65 sounds like Gaudi vespa tour idea is a good one! Your photos have encouraged that a lot. I am fairly used to not trusting pedestrian crossings - UK and Australia have really been the only places I have trusted them (well mostly trusted).
I am finding the distance relationship idea very difficult at the moment, it is only about 6 weeks since I got back here and I'd fly back there tomorrow if I could
@lbmcshutter I bet. I think I told you I had a French amour who lived just over the border from Geneva.. it was a long way with only the postal service to keep in touch (wasn't allowed to phone on mum and dad's phone, they knew I'd be on for hours). Planning ahead helped - I bought my coach ticket after saving £57 for the return trip..!! Hang on in there :)
@espyetta OHmygiddyaunt MaryBeth.. I've just watched the episode of game of thrones where the ?cousin marries the girl as Rob hadn't married one of their daughters.. have you seen it? I feel I need to swap notes with someone....!!! (*shock*)
