All Smiles but Looking Bonkers in Deely-Boppers! 15.9.13
My friend Sue came to collect me nearly 2 hours before the walk began, so we had plenty of time to meet up with the rest of our wonderful school team and make ourselves look sillier with cheesy smiles and silly starry headgear!
The walk finally started as scheduled at 10pm (after the the roads around had been closed etc) and we went for it - six miles in 1 hour 40 mins going at quite a pace which I didn't set and wasn't my idea of a moonlit stroll but I somehow kept up and didn't complain once.. not Once! At least it didn't rain, the atmosphere was super and the camaraderie fabulous.
I kept up my smile until the Huge relief that it was over and I could finally go to to the sanctuary of my bed. I managed to raise over £100 which covers a night shift for Sue Ryder to care for a terminally ill patient. My aches and blisters didn't really matter.
A day of two halves, the half I spent in London meeting 365ers was my favourite bit. :)
Great shot, Phil and great that you raised money for a good cause! I could never walk 6 miles!! I can't even walk ONE! Love their attire. It looks quite cheery and they look ready to go for a night stroll. Congrats on completing the walk!!
You all look very chirpy - well done, glad you raised loads of cash for the charity. If I'd thought about it a bit more I'd have given you a donation on Saturday
@pistonbroke If I had been more ballsy I would have asked! I didn't like to meet and fleece folks though :) Thanks for the thought. I've raised the £100 I needed to, and folk from school have made promises so I'm happy. (And I don't ache any more!)
Sounds like both halves were good though. Too bad all the walking you did with your 365 friends didn't count towards the fund raising, but bravo to you for raising what you did! And I think the starry deely boppers are a great motivator- and of course they will make nice props in a future shot for 365.
