The Very Hungry Caterpillars - 30 Days Wild 3

Each year I see massive webs on roadside hedges so this year, in 365 mode, I went to investigate. The webs are full of caterpillars munching away. Does anyone know what they turn into?

Can't help at all. Would be interesting to keep an eye on them and see. Good detail, and interesting.

It would make an interesting project to take a couple home with you , with a heap of leaves and capture their development from caterpillar to cocoon to butterfly .
Great shot.

Fantastic find and capture! I have no idea what they will turn in to, but I hope you will investigate further. :)

These look like Ermine moth caterpillars - and they are the ones that cover whole trees, hedges etc in "web"!

I agree with Louise! Amazing how they produce those 'webs'.
