This is my cousin checking to see if he had caught any wild salmon in the putts (putchens) this afternoon. The fish are taken up on the tide and dragged back when it turns and then caught in these cone shaped baskets. My father was one of the last on the River Severn to make them by hand using willow and hazel rods but today they are all wire putts. My cousin had lots of tales to tell of fish caught in years gone by.
@helenhall@deborah63 Hi Debbie and Helen. Pleased to say moved into my new home last weekend and hoping to rejoin you on 365 in a week or so. It feels odd not taking a photo a day but I have been checking in on your fab photos most days and am looking forward to catching up properly with everyone then. In the meantime, keep on taking your photos. x
@snaggy
I haven't seen you on 365 for a bit. I hope all is well and that you'll be back with us soon.
