Looks like I've gone a bit industrial at the moment.
I would have loved to have posted a picture I took late last night but my camera wouldn't focus and there was lots of light noise. I was just falling asleep when I heard something flying around in my bedroom. It was a bat! As the light went on it settled on the ridge beam. Now, how do you get a bat out of your bedroom at midnight? I opened the windows as wide as they would go and had to be patient, with the lights off. Eventually it started to click and took off, flying around (very close to the end of my nose on one occasion). I watched it go out of the window and fly into the moonlight. What an amazing up close and personal experience. I am relieved I'm not afraid of bats. A spider though, that would have been a different matter.
I like your spring - to be honest I thought it was an entry into the jewellery macro when I first saw it. I would be happy to wear those bangles! I think I might have panicked over the bat. I certainly did when I once had a sparrow in the bedroom. I wonder how it got into your room.
@helenhall Thanks for your comment in the gate spring. I've been waiting for an opportunity to take a photo and the raindrops helped it along this morning.
I had all my big double doors open yesterday Helen so the bat came through one of them. There is a roost in my brother's roof and they come out at dusk and are always entertaining to watch. I'll have to make sure I shut the doors as soon as I see them from now on.
A bat.... Bloody hell. I'm impressed that you even thought to take a photo, I'd be screaming.....
It's always difficult to get a good shot in the dark if you leave your camera in auto, but you could try using a torch to light up the bat, 1/2 press the shutter to focus and then switch to manual focus. Turn your flash on, that will help with the noise.
