At last, a proper walk today. I spotted all these fungi in Little Wood and I'm hoping Louise might be able to identify them for me. I stood still amongst the trees and watched an adult squirrel, with the biggest tail I've ever seen, trying to distract me from the two youngsters in another tree. There were two cock pheasants squawking and flying up and two buzzards swooping into the tops of the trees. It felt like another world.
The bottom two I don't know and there are so many kinds of fungi it might take a while to figure out! Of the top two, the first is definitely candlesnuff fungus and the second looks like some form of bolete - maybe a shaggy bolete but I'm really not sure.
Sorry for the lack of comments over the last week - I've been away for half term without internet or even phone signal so I have some catching up to do now!
@roachling They are all new to me Louise. I love the name candlesnuff - it's perfect for that type of fungi. Thanks for telling me. I have spotted some more today and will look out for it in future.
