@randystreat stink bugs do quite a number, then the yellow jackets move on in. I can't tell if the tree is dying. Maybe it was just a dry summer, but wouldn't there normally be leaves still?
I was wondering about the leaves, or lack there of! My crêpe myrtle tree has lost lots of its leaves already this year too. It seems odd to see apples with no leaves.
