Well, I couldn't do a month thinking about the sacred (and the religious notions that surround it) without paying homage to the biblical-quote-on-a-beautiful-background genre.
And I wouldn't be me if I didn't add that I've never quite understood the impulse towards self-abnegation that permeates the religious life as it is taught in churches. Not my will, but thine. Not my glory, but thine. Not me, it's all about you. I've never understood that. I know, I know. Accepting the Greater One is not actually a matter of understanding. It is more a matter of accepting and more a matter of faith. But something in me resists this god who insists I am nothing. This admission perhaps reveals my lack of spiritual development, but there you have it.
