Here's another view of a remaining paw paw flower. Most are dried up now. The woods have gotten a completely different ambience with all the extra green. For one thing, it's darker in there! They also seem quite a bit more vast.
Maine is a very forested state and as the trees leaf out you begin to feel like you are driving down tunnels in many areas. My dh and I always enjoyed the spring because you could see things as you drove along. SO I can imagine that actually going into the words is even darker yet.
