Rings in the woods

Inspired by get-pushed challenge from Liz Hammond " to try out a new flash technique I'm going to suggest slow synch flash - rear or front curtain as you think suits your image " I took the flash out in the woods on a cloudy day and --- with a LOT of experimenting to not over or under-expose, still not sure what I did to get what I wanted -- lit this from the right hand side. I seem to have caught the sparkle I wanted.
@lizhammond I've not yet managed to get front or rear-curtain effects. Everything seems terribly overexposed (and the dog has not been cooperative...) But, I took the flash outside and did some fun stuff. Finally I resorted to setting the camera (and flash) completely on manual and just experimenting with aperture and speed until the picture looked more or less right.

Very nice effect! You cannot tell that it is cloudy out at all!

I haven't a clue what you are tryign to do with the light but I do love the choice of subject and composition of this image.

A strong outcome...well done to manipulate the light and create this composition.

There is a nice sparkle there and the picture looks like it belongs with some sort of fairy tale or epic fantasy.

Hi Francoise, great result. Even if it wasn't exactly what you intended, it looks like you had lots of fun playing with flash.
