There is Mr. Goose, visiting the excessive number of roosters we currently have. Their days are numbered, but it's easier for Joe to put off butchering than it is to butcher. It's never really quite the right time. Too hot, too tired from work, too busy with other plans, too windy for a good fire, too rainy, etc. etc. I can relate. I myself am quite the expert at putting things off. Today I thought I would do taxes since I now have all the information needed. I did get so far as typing in our names and social security numbers. And downloading the instructions to make sure I knew who qualified as a dependent. But then I spent the rest of the day doing next week's homework for that class I may have written about. And shopping for a corned beef brisket. And cleaning out the round corner cabinet with all the cans. And taking the dog out for a nice long walk. And writing notes to be scanned for a student of mine who misses many classes due to sports. And catching up on my March project. But no taxes. I know the day is young, but people will be coming home soon and I much prefer to do taxes when no one is at home.
In fact, there is about to be a whole houseful as two of the boys are coming for a visit.... and to eat the annual St. Patrick's Day corned beef which is simmering on the stove. Though it's tolerated, the truth is that I'm the only one in the house who actually loves corned beef. So I limit myself to cooking it once per year and that would be ... today! "You can cook it anytime you want," said Joe. But why would I cook things that I know are not people's favorites?
I too am a master at putting things off. Always something else needs doing until it becomes absolutely imperative that a particular task is carried out!
