Through the Bridge by grannysue

Through the Bridge

We went below the bridge so that I could take photos of people fishing and the lake. My husband is my inspiration for this photo, as he asked to borrow my camera and took photos like this. I decided to give it a try myself and this is how mine turned out. This is a fairly long bridge and you can see the land and vegetation on the other side of the water. It creates a sort of optical illusion, as it looks like you could almost walk across the support beams, but trust me, they are far apart.
Thanks to eveyone for comments on my previous photos and on this one. I appreciate your comments and any suggestions. I will be trying to catch up on your photos.
Fantastic!

It is an interesting shot, Linda; it begs to be studied in depth to solve the illusion.

So interesting!!

Thismis a great composition with the vanishing point dead-centre. The processing is great but I think a black and White would also work really well.

My stomach gave a bit of a lurch when I looked at this photo, you have captured the height really well ! I agree with Richard would be interesting to see it in B/W.

Well done hubby for seeing the potential here. It's always a challenge to look at and see the familiar from a different point of view - you have certainly suceedded here. (I wish 365 had spell check!)

@richjane77 Thanks! It is great in black and white. I tryed it in black and white, sepia, and processed with extra vibrance, etc. I was a hard choice between the black and white but I decided to go with this natural one. I plan to go back and take another pic with different lighting and maybe different position.

@janek My husband has a really good eye for photography and takes good photos. I am trying to talk him into joining 365, we are looking at cameras to find one for him.

@happypat It does. When I drive across that bridge (every day) I have to be in an inside lane, can not stand the edge. It is a four lane going one way, there is a matching one going the other way. Not very good access to the underneath of the other side.

Love this - your husband is a great inspiration!

Really, really eye-catching, love the repetitive patterns and the kind of compression by using a longer lens. (I see from your EXIF info that it's 250mm)

I love photos that look like optical illusions! This is great!

this turned out very well, Linda!

@mimigd Thank you for your comment. There was compression for sure. I will be posting a photo sometime today of a side view of the same bridge and you will be able to see the length of it over the water. I went back today to take more photos of the bridge and of people fishing.

@acajuntx It was the hubby that brought it to my attention - he really has a good eye for photography.

The repeated concrete frames make the tiny patch of colour and life at their end really stand out; great :)
