Since I thought I was still feeling some lingering pain from my bike accident 6 weeks ago I went to another doctor last week, and had a second appointment today after some imaging was done. Turns out on my left foot my achilles tendon is torn in half, and I have to wear this boot around for at least a month. Bummer.
But at the same time I try to look on the positive side of life, it still could have been much worse for me in that accident, and it still could have been worse if I ingored the lingering pain and started my running training again and caused further damage.
Also today after work my wife and I went to this wine-festival in the main square and we ended up talking with this group of grandmas for almost two hours, they were a riot! We had a really nice time talking with them, and they were so suprized we didn't know any German two years ago. Also my wife got the biggest compliment, as they thought she was german at first! So the great time tonight made up for the bad news at the doctor this morning.
Also this weekend we are getting a visit from three great old friends from Chicago, two of which we haven't seen since we left there two years ago. It will be a great time I am really looking forward to it.
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your foot, but I'm glad you had it looked at again and are hopefully now on the mend. The wine festival sounds like it was fun, though, and how exciting that your friends are coming to visit!
Wow...lots going on in your world...so sorry about that attachment you will have to wear...it looks huge...but whatever is best for recovery must endure...
Awww, sorry about your boot, but you're right, it could've been worse - pleased you're okay for the most part! Hope its not too heavy to wear.
Kudos to learning German so well, and sounds like a great night out :-)
The boot is a work of art. I have so enjoyed reading your blog and admire the sense of adventure you and your wife have shown. Hope your healing is on the right track now.
Well, except for the substantial foot problems (so glad you caught it and will be better soon!), it looks to me like you're thoroughly enjoying every minute of your time in Germany, too! I'd love to have the immersion in another culture and to learn another language well! Your wife must have been thrilled to have been taken for German herself! Your photos are a delight, for I know that same comraderie. You're making moments to treasure for a lifetime! Enjoy your Chicago company; they're going to love their visit with you! (We're spending a week in Chicago with our girls on the way back to CA...and then again in Oct when our grandbaby is due! Lots more photo ops ahead!)
Sorry to hear about the boot,... but, you are right, always look on the bright side, it could have been much worse! Al least as the day progressed, it got better! ;-) The group of grannies looks like fun ;-)
Kudos to learning German so well, and sounds like a great night out :-)
