We have two ceramic tea-light houses we bought from the Aachen christmas market, both of which are buildings in Aachen. Anne spent some time today setting up a super cute little christmas village today, complete with an ice skating rink. We do this in leiu of a tree as we try to limit our impact on the world and we can't justify a tree we would just throw out when we leave Aachen.
I like your outlook on trees, we have a fake one we've used for years. Though, I guess realistically, the impact in a landfill once it's a goner will be something. Ugh. Well, we try. This is beautiful--I'd love to live in a real village like this!
Lovely way to remember your time in Aachen. I feel the same way about Christmas trees. But of course I don't have little kids living at home anymore. You certainly can't get away with being treeless with kids!
